Rex Duncan serves as Executive Director for Champion Community Investments. He had previously been President of the Board of Directors of CCI since 2004, becoming the organization’s first executive director in November 2015. He retired from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2014 where he worked as the Director of Community Development and Outreach in the Office of Economic and Regional Development and founding Executive Director of Connect SI. He is also a member of the board of the Southern Illinois Economic Development Authority.
Rex holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Eastern Illinois University and a Master of Science degree in Workforce Education and Development from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Since 2014 he has been a member of the Community Development Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. He is a former city council member and mayor of his hometown of Du Quoin, Illinois where he and his wife Linda reside today.
Jeff Ashauer serves as the Loan Manager for Champion Community Investments. He also holds a seat on the CCI Board of Directors as the board treasurer. He is one of three founding members of CCI remaining with the organization for its 15-year history. Jeff has a long and successful career in southern Illinois economic and community development, having served for a number of years as the economic development coordinator for Perry County, Illinois. He has served similar roles in the Southern Five region as well as for Marion, Illinois.
Jeff holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, a Master of Science degree in City and Regional Planning from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, and Master of Public Administration from the University of Southern California. He also serves as the Finance Committee Chair on the Board of Directors of South Central Transit. Jeff and his wife Betty reside in Pinckneyville, Illinois.
Rodney Deutschmann serves as the Marketing Director for Champion Community Investments. With more than 25 years experience in his field, Rod brings a unique and bold approach to marketing the value of CCI. Rod also serves as marketing director for the Arnold Company in Trenton Illinois, Expressionn’more in Salem and the Centralia Regional Library District. He is also the founder and administrative director of Library Workshops, which brings quality small business classes, leisure learning workshops and family enrichments opportunities to rural libraries.
Rod has taught marketing, website design, social media and advertising for Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Kaskaskia College, SouthWestern Illinois College and the St. Charles School district. He was a co-founder of Southern California’s In Focus Learning Center, is a veteran Marine Combat Correspondent and experienced Newspaper Editor.
